A PERMANENT PLACE OF WORSHIP AFTER 20 YEARS IN SCHOOL GYMS
The European-style cathedral with 60-foot ceilings, hand-carved fixtures, a limestone facade, and a hand-crafted stained-glass window is the initial phase of a 100,000 SF church campus. J2 provided site survey and construction stakeout; site layout planning; final engineering design and permitting; landscape architecture and design; and construction administration for Phase I. Future phases to be completed by J2 include a rectory, parish center, hall, a school with a childcare facility, and a gymnasium.
The Solution
THE SOLUTION
To address budget issues while maintaining the architect’s and client’s vision, J2 provided innovative value engineering to bring the design to life within the original budget. J2 analyzed earthwork throughout the site and formulated an effective and cost-saving plan to balance site soils and limit the amount of dirt excavation while reallocating excess soil to other campus locations that required infill.
THE CHALLENGE
The 21,000 SF gothic-style church is the first phase of a master-planned 100,000 SF campus.
In addition to the church structure, the initial phase included extensive site work, utilities, and infrastructure development to allow for future phases. Challenges surrounding the project included an approved design that did not meet the established budget.
